Do you and your significant other ever sit around and wonder, what should we do tonight? Colton and I live in a city full of things to do, but too often are guilt of saying that there is nothing. With Valentines Day rapidly approaching, I wanted to share a few affordable date night ideas,
Dinner and a movie (at home)
Go to your local grocery store and pick up the ingredients to make a pizza at home (dough, sauce, mozzarella cheese, meat, and veggies). Check out my favorite at home pizza recipe here. Open a bottle of wine and have fun making your perfect pizza, then cuddle up to a good movie on Netflix. Don’t forget dessert!
Groupon fun date
Check out the “things to do” tab (under local) on Groupon and plan a date night that you have never been on before. Grab discount tickets to a cooking class, test your brain in an escape room, catch a comedy show, or try your putt at mini golf.
All of the chocolate
Grab a sweet dessert from a fancy restaurant after dinner. If you are in Dallas, you can try Sablon chocolate lounge in Uptown near West Village and share a delicious, decadent chocolate dessert for under $15.
Pack a picnic basket and blanket and head to your nearest river, lake, beach, or pool. If you aren’t close to any of those, grab a spot under a large tree. Dallas readers, White Rock Lake is perfect for a sunset picnic. You can feed the ducks, watch the boats on the water, then go for a sunset walk along the lake.
Ice cream tasting
Similar to the dessert idea, hit up a local ice cream shop and try all of the new flavors. More specialty ice cream parlors are opening up across the globe, so why not give them a taste? If you are in Dallas, make an appointment at Ice Cream Wasted‘s boozy ice cream tasting room.
If you don’t live near the mountains, find a local climbing gym and plan an active date. Cheer each other on and encourage one another while strengthening your arm muscles. Rock climbing is a fun activity that can easily be turned in to a date.
Instead of grabbing dinner all at one place, find a spot you can easily walk from restaurant to restaurant for a progressive dinner. Grab a drink and appetizers at the first restaurant, then walk to the next spot for dinner. Finally, end with dessert at a third restaurant. The best part of progressive dinners is that you can try several different places all in one night.
Get your endorphins flowing and catch a workout class together. The couple that sweats together, stays together. Keep your eyes open for couple’s workout classes at your local studio, or just catch a regular class together. Often times, the first class is free.
If you are in Dallas, check out my free cycle class I am hosting at CycleBar Preston Forest on March 14. You can reserve your bike here. If you don’t have a date to bring, bring a friend or come by yourself. It will be a fun ride!
