A few weeks ago, Colton and I started a new tradition we call “Spa Sunday”. For the most part, we try to rest and rejuvenate on Sundays, but that is not always the case. Most Sundays, I meal prep for the week, run errands, or catch up on house cleaning and laundry. No matter how busy we are during the day, we make time to relax and clear our heads for the week ahead. This is our spa Sunday. With just a few products, you can create your own relaxing oasis for an at home spa.
- Turn off social media and screens
- Set aside a specific time to relax each Sunday
- If you don’t have time for a whole bath, give yourself a face mask or foot scrub
- Finish all of your to dos, so you can crawl in to bed right after
Clean your bath tub
Start your at home Spa Sunday by cleaning your bathtub. This may seem like a no brainer, but clean up all the clutter and grime so that you can relax.
Make your bed
I love climbing in to a made bed at night. Although I would be lying if I said I made my bed every morning, I can honestly say I make it most nights before going to bed. It only takes a couple of minutes, and it makes a huge difference in how well I sleep.
Once your bed is made, spray it with a pillow mist to enhance the spa feel. My favorite mist is Bath and Body Works “Sleep” mist.
Yes, I have a black satin pillow while the rest of our pillows are white. It is from Savvy Sleepers, and I love it!
Light a couple of lavender or eucalyptus scented candles. Both lavender and eucalyptus help with relaxation and slow the heart rate.
Prepare the bath
Use bath bombs, oils, bath salts, bubbles, or whatever you like to make the water more relaxing and smell good. If you haven’t checked out Lush, they have incredible bath products to turn your bath in to your spa.
Set your Spotify station to yoga, meditation or relaxation and enjoy. Start with a face mask. My favorite is this K&K sea algae clay mask from Toneitup.com (it’s on major sale right now!).
Then, pamper your feet with a scrubber and foot scrub.
Next, use a sugar scrub on your arms and legs. I use the lemongrass sugar body scrub by Beautycounter.
Read a book, drink a glass of wine, journal, or just lay and enjoy the bath.
Go to sleep
Dry off, lotion up with your favorite lotion, and go to bed. My current favorite lotion is the lavender hand and body lotion from Trader Joe’s.
