At Home Spa Sunday

A few weeks ago, Colton and I started a new tradition we call “Spa Sunday”.  For the most part, we try to rest and rejuvenate on Sundays, but that is not always the case.  Most Sundays, I meal prep for the week, run errands, or catch up on house cleaning and laundry.  No matter how busy we are during the day, we make time to relax and clear our heads for the week ahead.  This is our spa Sunday.  With just a few products, you can create your own relaxing oasis for an at home spa.

Rules

  1. Turn off social media and screens
  2. Set aside a specific time to relax each Sunday
  3. If you don’t have time for a whole bath, give yourself a face mask or foot scrub
  4. Finish all of your to dos, so you can crawl in to bed right after

Clean your bath tub

Start your at home Spa Sunday by cleaning your bathtub.  This may seem like a no brainer, but clean up all the clutter and grime so that you can relax.

Make your bed

I love climbing in to a made bed at night.  Although I would be lying if I said I made my bed every morning, I can honestly say I make it most nights before going to bed.  It only takes a couple of minutes, and it makes a huge difference in how well I sleep.

Once your bed is made, spray it with a pillow mist to enhance the spa feel.  My favorite mist is Bath and Body Works “Sleep” mist.

Yes, I have a black satin pillow while the rest of our pillows are white.  It is from Savvy Sleepers, and I love it!

Light candles

Light a couple of lavender or eucalyptus scented candles.  Both lavender and eucalyptus help with relaxation and slow the heart rate. At home spa sunday lifestyle blogger North Dallas Blog Blogger Love You More Too

Prepare the bath

Use bath bombs, oils, bath salts, bubbles, or whatever you like to make the water more relaxing and smell good.  If you haven’t checked out Lush, they have incredible bath products to turn your bath in to your spa.

Relax

Set your Spotify station to yoga, meditation or relaxation and enjoy.  Start with a face mask.  My favorite is this K&K sea algae clay mask from Toneitup.com (it’s on major sale right now!).

Then, pamper your feet with a scrubber and foot scrub.

Next, use a sugar scrub on your arms and legs.  I use the lemongrass sugar body scrub by Beautycounter.

Read a book, drink a glass of wine, journal, or just lay and enjoy the bath.

Go to sleep

Dry off, lotion up with your favorite lotion, and go to bed.  My current favorite lotion is the lavender hand and body lotion from Trader Joe’s.

For awhile, I was in a habit of doing a mask every Friday night as a way to relax after the week. I’m not sure why I stopped but I definitely need to bring it back!

It’s so important to give yourself a little treat.

Oh my! That sounds amazing! If only I can get a few hours to myself; I’d do this!

I like the idea of a spa day at least sometime during the week. I like to everything done and laid out before I go to bed each night. Makes things easier in the mornings.

    • Reply Jessica March 15, 2017 at 12:35 pm

That is exactly what I do! Love having as much time in the mornings as possible.

Sounds wonderful! I used to give myself a foot spa every Sunday afternoon, but I haven’t done it in years. Maybe I need to get back into the practice??

Your spa night looks WAY more spa-like than my attempt over here. Your bathtub looks so inviting! I love those stress-relief lotions and sprays from BBW. They really work!

    • Reply Jessica March 15, 2017 at 1:24 pm

haha. Awh, thank you. That was one of my requirements for buying a house- a great bathtub. Yes! They work wonders for sure.

  • Reply Elizabeth March 14, 2017 at 8:50 pm

Spa night sounds so relaxing! My favorite thing to do is to light a candle and take a bubble bath.

Thank you! You definitely should. Self care and relaxation are so important.

Lavender is the best way for me to fall asleep and stay asleep.

I love this. I recently gave myself a spa night on a Tuesday and it was awesome. I’m superrr excited to be treating the bf and myself to a couple’s massage tomorrow that he has no clue about. I definitely get your point about making the bed so I try to keep it tidy during the work week but during the weekend, it’s fair game.

    • Reply Jessica March 15, 2017 at 1:38 pm

So fun!! He will love it. That is a great surprise. Trust me, some nights I make the bed minutes before I climb in . 🙂

I love this ritual! An at home spa day sounds amazing. I just wish I had a bigger tub than our tiny apartment one haha! I can’t even stretch out in this one.
And I am right there with you on that clay mask, It’s AWESOME!

Just do a steam shower. 😉 You can always borrow my bathtub any time you are in Plano. haha. I actually have a friend who uses it from time to time because she has a small tub in her apartment.
