Colton and I have been shooting weddings for 7 years now. One of my favorite things about being in the wedding industry, is all of the people we have met. There is just something about working in the industry that brings people together. Katherine with Bells and Barbells is no exception. Not only is Katherine extremely knowledgeable and well versed, but she is incredibly motivating and great at forming relationships. One of the first things I noticed about her is how intentional she is about getting to know her clients and going above and beyond to help them. She remembers little details about clients and checks in with them throughout the week. This is something I cherish in people and believe is vital to success in achieving goals.

Bells and Barbells began a little under two years ago when Katherine realized there wasn’t personal training that specialized in wedding fitness. Often times, girls take group classes to get fit before the big day, but they may get lost in the sea of other people. With Bells and Barbells, you truly get specialized training to ensure that you are meeting your goals and staying safe by using correct form.

About my experience
Katherine noticed almost immediately I have limited mobility in my shoulders and hips. She was quick to offer advice on how to loosen those areas, and she told me exactly what I needed to do at home to help out. At first, she asked me to do a few basic moves like pushups and squats to watch my form and assess my current ability level.
Then, she created a personal fitness program for me to complete in an allotted time. I have been to a Crossfit class where I had similar requirements, but it was very different being one on one. During this session, I was able to learn how to execute each move with proper form, and held accountable to complete each exercise, since I couldn’t hide behind a crowd of people. My biggest area of weakness is upper body, so we got in a full body workout that really targeted my upper body.
To be honest, I didn’t think I would be able to do the entire workout. However, with some (okay, a lot of) encouragement, and a La Croix, I did. I even learned the proper way to do pullups. Katherine wouldn’t let me quit, because she knew I could do it. She was right there with me every step of the way.
I left feeling such a high from crushing that challenging workout. Then, as soon as I walked in the door to my house, I received a sweet and encouraging text from Katherine. It was such a rewarding experience from start to finish.
As important as a talented wedding planner, great venue, and amazing photographer are, I believe wedding fitness should be right alongside them. Too often, brides forget to take care of themselves, so it is wonderful to have someone there to help you. I highly recommend checking out Bells and Barbells and all of the options they have to offer. When you have spent all of this time planning your perfect day, you should feel your best from the inside out. Katherine is an expert at getting brides ready for their wedding, and will do the same for you. Your health should not be the last thing you think about during the planning process.
