This weekend, Dallas Blogger Brunch welcomed spring with an unseasonably cold brunch at Ross & Hall. We initially planned to enjoy our brunch on their beautiful patio, but instead moved indoors to their private event room. It’s a good thing that space is perfect for hosting larger groups and a great canvas for any type of event. Kailey with Earth Entwine did a fantastic job with the centerpieces and placards to really add to the rustic feel of the space and girlie it up a bit.
About Ross & Hall
Ross & Hall is the sister restaurant of State & Allen and The Nodding Donkey. They bring delicious American food and drinks to Ross Ave. If you haven’t checked out their brunch menu yet, your Dallas brunch life may not be complete. Unfortunately, I couldn’t order one of everything on the menu, but I wanted to. The event room is located in the back and opens up to the beautiful dog-friendly patio. Plenty of natural light comes in, so it is a dream to decorate.
What to drink
One of the things that separates Ross & Hall from other Dallas brunch spots is their bloody Mary and mimosa bar. They have everything you need to make your perfect bloody Mary or mimosa. I am more of a mimosa girl, so I tried the prickly pear juice in my champagne. Then, I added gummy bears, fresh berries, and topped it off with brownies and strawberry. The possibilities are endless, so whether you are craving something sweet or savory, you will find what you need at the bar.
What to eat
Most of the menu items fall into the savory category, but they have crepes and dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth.
For the savory fan
To everyones surprise, I didn’t order the migas, although they sounded great. I ate the cheddar cheese stuffed biscuits and gravy bowl and couldn’t of been happier with my decision. The purple potato bacon hash was the perfect complement to the cheesy biscuits and gravy.
Not only do the brisket brunchiladas look incredible and photograph well, they tasted delicious too.
The shrimp and grits came highly recommended, and for good reason. It comes with andouille sausage, peppers, scallions, cauliflower and smoked tomato sauce.
Maybe crab cakes and eggs are more your style. These were a big hit at our table!
The Italia egg white frittata is a healthier option, loaded with veggies and served with veggie sausage.
If you are more of a traditional breakfast/brunch person, you will love the R&H eggs and bacon. It’s served with toast and the purple potato hash.
For the sweet lover
The blackberry and bourbon crepes have candied pecans, bananas, mascarpone and bourbon syrup.
Surprise, surprise! My favorite dessert is the warm chocolate cake served with berries and ice cream.
If you love cheesecake, check out the caramel cheesecake with bruleed bananas.
The passion fruit mousse is creamy and served with caramel and berries.
