I love Halloween. One of the biggest reasons I love it, is because I love dressing up and taking on another “character” for a night. I was in theater throughout school, so that part of me never really left. Halloween gives me an excuse to continue doing something I enjoy.
Give me a costume contest, and I will step up to the plate. Colton and I used to love coming up with creative costumes, and I carried that on last year after the divorce. More than just a trip down memory lane, here are a few fun ideas to get you in the mood for Halloween.
Halloween 2013. Miley and Robin circa 2013 VMAs.
Colton and I placed first in the costume competition with this one. Pick a famous couple and reverse roles! Think about a popular movie, TV show, or pop culture couple, and just go with it.
Get a group of your friends and dress up as the Spice Girls. They will never get old, and everyone will love it. If you want to win a contest, throw in some dudes to secure a spot in the top 3.
Tal Bachman’s “She’s So High”
Remember the song “She’s so High” by Tal Bachman? Grab a couple of girlfriends and dress and dress as Cleopatra, Joan of Arch, and Aphrodite. Cute. Clever. Fun.
Famous bestie duo
Grab your best friend and dress as a famous bestie duo. The possibilities are endless. Think Lucy and Ethel, Thelma and Louise, or Romy and Michele. Betty and Wilma worked great for our brunette and redhead duo.
If you are looking for a good kid-friendly school dress up, be the fun characters from Inside Out. Any time you can wear fun colored wigs is a win in my book.
Wizard of Oz
Who doesn’t love the classic film The Wizard of Oz? Most of these costumes were DIY and so much fun!
Wes Anderson Characters
Suzy (moonrise Kingdom), Mrs. Fox (Fantastic Mr. Fox), Lobby Boy (Grand Budapest Hotel)
Why not dress as your favorite characters from Wes Anderson films? Great costumes to choose from and unique.
