Fredericksburg is blowing up on Instagram right now, but did you know there are wineries even close to Dallas? I was blown away by my visit to 4R Ranch and Vineyards last weekend and have been so excited to share it with you.
Just northwest of Dallas off 35 lies Muenster, Texas. 4R Ranch is family owned and operated and an absolutely beautiful space for a winery. There is no denying this family’s love and passion for wine and sharing the beauty of Texas with others. They offer gorgeous views, delicious wines, mountain bike trails, tasting and tours.
What to do
Head over to the tasting room for a $6 (3 wines) or $10 (5 wines) wine tasting. Enjoy it at the bar for a personalized wine tasting experience, or take one of the self-guided wine tastings out on the beautiful patio and enjoy the views. On Saturdays, 4R Winery has live music too. Check out the schedule here. We loved every minute of our self-guided tasting and couldn’t get enough of the delicious cheese board.
Experience winemaking firsthand and learn the basics. On the tour, you get to hear about the basics of winemaking, see the equipment used, and ask any question you want. The smell alone is worth the $8. I will happily buy any candle 4R Wines sells if they can bottle it up for me.
In addition to a tour, you can also pay $8 extra for a barrel tasting (highly recommended). Here you will have the opportunity to try wine directly from the barrel before it is finished and bottled.
I learned so much from this experience. We even got to try some wine grapes straight off the vine.
Where to stay
Most people stay in Muenster when they visit 4R Winery, but they do have on-site accommodations too. If you are having a girls’ weekend, bachelorette party, celebrating a birthday party, romantic getaway or more, you can rent the guest house that sleeps up to 8 people. We loved having a space on site for all of us.
Another fun option is their campsite. They have a beautiful space overlooking the Red River valley. There’s a toilet, shower, and even an RV hookup on site.
Thank you 4R Ranch and Vineyards for having us out to explore your beautiful winery. We had a blast and I cannot wait to share more about your wines and visit again in the fall when the leaves start changing colors. As always, thoughts and opinions remain my own. I wouldn’t recommend something I didn’t love.
