A few weeks ago, I sat in my tiny bathtub and dreamed of the days when I laid in the bathtub for hours listening to music, smelling candles, and experiencing pure relaxation. Since I worked hard all summer, and didn’t get to take a vacation like I have in the past, I booked a staycation at The Statler. The moment I saw photos of the bathtub, I knew it was the perfect place.
One of the reasons I booked the Statler, besides the giant bathtub, is that it is in downtown and walking distance to everything. They also have some amazing restaurants in the hotel.
Unfortunately, it was raining the whole time during our stay, so I wasn’t able to go to the pool. However, I kept myself entertained by watching TV in the comfy bed, getting dolled up for dinner, and eating at Primo’s.
Dinner at Primo’s
Primo’s has been a Dallas staple for a long time. A few weeks ago, they opened a second location in the Statler which makes it a perfect spot to stop during your staycation.
What to drink
You can’t go wrong with any drink on the menu. We were blown away by the different flavors and combinations.
Order one of their fun margaritas or a comanchero, a fun twist on Horchata.
Try one of the house frozen margaritas with sangria swirl. It’s always a go to for me.
What to eat
I love queso, but their guacamole is fantastic. It’s the perfect smooth to chunky consistency.
When you can’t decide what you want, because everything sounds good, order a combo plate. Pictured is combo #1 with enchilada verdes y crema, pollo taco, and tostada pollo.
If you like fajitas, you will love Primo’s tableside fajitas. They are served on the tiered platters with your choice of cilantro or Spanish rice and beans.
I posted a poll on Instagram stories, but it was about half and half of people who preferred Spanish or cilantro rice.
Do not leave Primo’s without ordering the creme brulee churros. I cannot even begin to describe how delicious they are, but we practically had tears in our eyes it was so good. Do yourself a favor and just say yes to dessert.
