Dallas Valentine Date Ideas

February 6, 2019

Dallas is a city full of plenty of date options for Valentines or any day for that matter. There is so much to do, whether you want to go out or stay home. A couple of years ago I posted some affordable date night ideas. This year, I want to highlight some special things happening for Valentine’s Day.

Explore Downtown

A few months ago, I shared a downtown date idea. We had so much fun exploring different areas of downtown and eating all the food.

Start off at Klyde Warren Park. In addition to people-watching, you can catch live music, read a book, take a workout class, grab food from a food truck, play a game, have a picnic, or do whatever your heart desires. Enjoy the sunshine and fresh air , and take the opportunity to talk and get to know your date.

Then, enjoy a progressive dinner downtown (more on that in the next section).

Check out a Cirque du Soleil show

Last week, Adam and I saw Amaluna at Lone Star Park. We both were amazed by the acrobatics, story, and set design. Amaluna is romantic. It runs through March 3, so it’s the perfect show to see for Valentine’s Day. Get your ticket here.

Progressive dinner

Instead of grabbing dinner all at one place, find a spot you can easily walk from restaurant to restaurant for a progressive dinner, downtown, Lower Greenville, Deep Ellum, Trinity Groves, or Bishop Arts. Grab a drink and appetizers at the first restaurant, then walk to the next spot for dinner.  Finally, end with dessert at a third restaurant.  The best part of progressive dinners is that you can try several different places all in one night.

My recommendation: Head to Bishop Arts and grab a drink at Tiny Victories. Then, go across the street for Italian food at Abruzzo’s. Lastly, walk or ride to Bolsa for their D*mn good brownie.

Now that scooters are all over Dallas, you have a lot of great locations to choose from and can even make longer treks from place to place.

Groupon fun date

Check out the “things to do” tab (under local) on Groupon and plan a date night that you have never been on before.  Grab discount tickets to a cooking class, test your brain in an escape room (PanIQ in Addison and Escape Expert in Plano are two of my favorites), catch a comedy show , or try your putt at mini golf.

Dinner and a movie (at home)

Go to your local grocery store and pick up the ingredients to make a pizza at home (dough, sauce, mozzarella cheese, meat, and veggies). Check out my favorite at home pizza recipe here. Open a bottle of wine and have fun making your perfect pizza, then cuddle up to a good movie on Netflix (like Roma which is a Netflix original movie up for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Don’t forget dessert!

Romantic lake picnic

Pack a picnic basket and blanket and head to your nearest river, lake, beach, or pool.  If you aren’t close to any of those, grab a spot under a large tree.  Dallas readers, White Rock Lake is perfect for a sunset picnic.  You can feed the ducks, watch the boats on the water, then go for a sunset walk along the lake.

Sweat together

Get your endorphins flowing and catch a workout class together.  The couple that sweats together, stays together.  Keep your eyes open for couple’s workout classes at your local studio, or just catch a regular class together.  Often times, the first class is free.

Spend a night in the burbs

If you haven’t made it up to the burbs in a while, get yourself out there.

Plano

West Plano is booming with the addition of Legacy Hall. Now is your chance to check out what everyone has been talking about. Blush Wine and Haute SweetsPatisserie are hosting a Sweethearts Night Out, or wine and dessert pairing. Then walk out to the Box Garden for free live music. Grab your ticket before they sell out.

Allen

Watters Creek has a fun weekend full of activities.

Hot To Trot – Valentine’s Carriage Rides- Saturday, Feb. 9 from 6 – 9 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 10 from 3 – 6 p.m.

My Jazzy Valentine- Enjoy live jazz music from Debbie and Eddie Crocetti on Sunday, Feb. 10 from 1 – 4 p.m.C

McKinney

One of my favorite restaurants is hosting a romantic Valentine dinner for two. Enjoy a five-course dinner at Rye in Downtown McKinney. Walk around the charming square, and settle in for a delicious meal for $100 for 2 between February 14-16. Reserve your spot today.
