Date Night: Classic Dinner and Movie

October 24, 2016

I’ve partnered with Moviehouse & Eatery in McKinney to bring you this post.  All opinions remain my own.

Colton and I try to make it a priority to schedule date nights throughout the month.  Sometimes we just stay at home and make homemade pizzas and watch Netflix.  We try to throw in active dates when we can. However, one of my favorite things we do is catch movies or check out new restaurants in our area.  A new movie theater opened just up the street, The Moviehouse in McKinney that offers the best of both worlds.  We decided to try it out!

First impressions

It is easy to order tickets online through the website, or buy when you arrive at customer relations.  I love being able to select my seats before I go, so I don’t have to stress about getting a good seat or waiting in line.

The inside is clean and modern.  There is a full bar and lounge where you can grab a craft cocktail or drink of your choice. It’s the perfect spot to wait for your friends before the show or to catch up afterwards.

The theater

I have become spoiled with movie theater seats, and The Moviehouse doesn’t disappoint.  They have comfortable, fully-reclining leather seats, stadium seating and a great sound system.

The food

Moviehouse has a from scratch kitchen that uses fresh ingredients to offer hand-crafted dishes.  Colton had the Bourbon BBQ fried lollipops with a side of fries. These deep fried french cut chicken drummettes were filling and even large enough to share.  They are served with a side of sage blue cheese.

I had the Backyard BBQ pizza with grilled chicken, onions, tomatoes, roasted corn, bacon , and cilantro.  It was delicious.  Everything tasted so fresh!

My favorite part of the night was the Fudge Mascarpone Brownie.  I am a sucker for sweets, and this hot brownie topped is topped with ice cream and a brandied cherry caramel sauce.  Believe me, it is worth saving room for this dessert.  It was too dark to snag a photo of it, but I promise it’s pretty.

The food is fresh and delicious.  I love that everything is made from scratch.  Moviehouse has some delicious craft cocktails on their menu too!

It is easy to pay at the end of the night too, because the server swipes the card at the beginning and drops the check toward the end of the movie.  The theaters are clean and everything is well kept.  We had great service from the moment we walked in.

You won’t have to spend a ton of money on your meal either.  All of the menu prices are extremely affordable.  Be sure to save room for dessert!  That brownie is amazing.

The only hesitation is that it is still new and not crowded just yet.  However, I don’t think that will last long.

I highly recommend Moviehouse & Eatery for a date night, or any other night for that matter.  Between the affordable prices, delicious food, comfortable recliners, great drinks and service, it is one of the best theaters in north Dallas.

Sounds like an awesome place to have a date night! If I only lived close by and not on the other side of the world (Australia!) I would definitely enter this comp!

I STILL haven’t seen the Girl on the Train! I need a solo date night just to go see it!

    • Jessica October 26, 2016 at 10:15 am

I want to see that too!! I didn’t read the book, but I heard the movie is better if you didn’t.

I’m all for scheduled date nights; they keep the relationships fresh and fun. The Moviehouse & Eatery looks pretty awesome. Drinking and eating while watching a movie in cushiony leather chairs? Yes Please. Those Bourbon BBQ fried lollipops look way too good to be served at a movie theater!! Yummy I would devour that pizza before opening credits.

    • Jessica October 26, 2016 at 10:16 am

Right?! We gobbled those suckers right up. I couldn’t believe how good they were.

We have an Alamo Drafthouse near us, which is pretty similar! It’s pricey, but always a fun time! 🙂 I love that you were able to choose your seats in advance, that’s a bonus!
