(Photo cred: Danny Mai/Dallas Fitness Ambassadors) Happy first day of school! Last Friday night, Jam Box Fitness hosted the Dallas Fitness Ambassadors for a night of community, dancing, and delicious food.
Jam Box Fitness lounge feels like a dance club with the TV screens, loud music, hip lighting and atmosphere. The vibe is incredible and you forget you are even working out. I love how modern the ceilings and decor is.
There is even a lounge area to wait for class, relax, or enjoy yourself during an event.
Dominique led our group in a fun pound + funk the fit mashup class. This was my first experience with Jam Box, and it will not be my last. I had a blast! If you have not checked out their studio and fun classes, you need to add that to your to-do list immediately (can you tell I am in full first day of school mode?).
Everyone had their own set of drumsticks, and Dominique led us in a full body workout that combines cardio, Pilates, and strength movements.
She demonstrated the moves from the stage, which was sandwiched between two large TVs playing the music videos. We started with our warmup, then we immediately began burning out our thighs and legs.
During a couple of the songs, we hit the floor for some abs and booty work.
Although this was only a half class, I could already feel the burn from Pound. It was such a unique workout.
Funk the fit
The other half of the workout was Dominique’s specialty “funk the fit”. This is a cardio dance session set to hip-hop and pop music.
I am not a dancer, but I had so much fun laughing at myself and continuously moving. Dominique had me dripping with sweat, feeling like a pop star. It was obvious that if I would have taken the full class, I would have scorched major calories.
Our DFA events would not be complete without the help of the incredible sponsors.
Pollo Tropical provided an excellent buffet of delicious, healthy food. I had no idea Pollo Tropical had such healthy options, so it was great getting to try everything out.
Bailey’s Almande made healthy cocktails with Vita Coco. We were able to enjoy these before and after class. I have always enjoyed Bailey’s, but now that it is made with almond milk, I will be sure to keep it in stock at home. This drink is delicious with less guilt than the original.
Finally, Riviera Spa set up post-workout chair massages for anyone who wanted one.
Check out Jam Box Fitness packages or drop in for a free first class. They offer a variety of formats to jam out and get fit. You’ll have the time of your life!
