February Trader Joe’s Favorites

This month’s unintentional theme is pasta. I guess my lack of being able to eat normal food for a while made me try new soft foods. Today I am sharing my favorite things from Trader Joe’s, so you know exactly what to put in your cart.  Many of these picks go together well, so you can put together a whole meal or two.

Organic Italian artisan pasta (Gigli) + Italian marinara sauce with Barola wine

The first of my favorites this month is a two for one.When I buy pasta, I almost always get it at Trader Joe’s. When I saw this new organic Italian artisan pasta line, I knew I had to try it. It is only made with two ingredients, made in small batches, and has the best texture. The gigli is such a fun shape. Colton said it reminded him of a small octopus.

Although you can eat the pasta with any sauce, my new favorite Trader Joe’s sauce is the Italian marina sauce with Barola wine. You don’t have to pour this liquid gold on pasta, but if you are eating pasta, it should always be coated in this. Barolo wine is an Italian wine aged in oak part of the time. You will taste the flavor immediately and be taken to the Italian countryside.

Ditalini pasta + cheddar cheese+ cauliflower+ kale

Do the math. Ditalini pasta + cheddar cheese+ cauliflower+ kale= the best mac n cheese, ever according to the package. If you haven’t tried mac n cheese with vegetables, you haven’t lived. The vegetables add texture and give it a flavor you won’t forget. I love it as a side for almost any meal. It’s easy to heat in the microwave, or you can bake it and add a bit of a crust to it.

Tzatziki

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about our incredible trip to Greece. Besides the fact that it’s the most beautiful place I have been on Earth, Greece also has great food. Tzatziki is a staple to Greek cuisine, and Trader Joe’s has there very own version.  Although you can eat it with whatever you want, it’s perfect to put on your sandwiches or pita bread.

Hi-protein veggie burger

A running gag in our house is that I always buy what they are sampling each week at our Trader Joe’s. This veggie burger patty was one of my favorite things I have sampled in a while. It’s the perfect alternative to a meat burger and it’s packed full of protein. It goes great with the best mac n cheese pasta, or stuff it in a pita with the tzatziki.

Cocoa almond cashew beverage

My list wouldn’t be complete without some sort of chocolate. Almond beverage is a staple in our house, and during winter, we stock up on the chocolate peppermint. This cocoa almond cashew beverage can be served hot or cold and would be the perfect addition to a protein smoothie.

    Oh, my goodness…I want to dunk my face into all of these things, especially that veggie Mac and cheese! And the tzaziki—yum! They have the best things and I’m a sucker for the in-store samples, too 🙂 happy weekend!!
