It’s swimsuit season, and today, I want to share five of my favorite moves for a toned booty. These moves require only a mat and can be done anywhere, at any time.  Honestly, these are the perfect moves to complete while watching Netflix or your favorite movie.

This is our last weekend here before Colton and I leave for Greece (we take off in 6 days!).  Since we are spending quite a bit of time at the beach, I will be doing these moves all weekend (along with my arm and cardio routines as well).

Equipment Needed:

Mat

Do 20 reps of each move.  Complete the routine at least 2 times.

Laying side kicks

To do this move: Lie on your right side in a straight line, support head in right hand.  Put your left arm in front to support yourself.  Lift leg up to hip height.  Kick leg straight out in front of you to make a 90° angle with your legs. Try to keep your upper body as still as possible and your legs hip height.

Do 20 reps and repeat on other side.

Donkey kicks

To do this move: Start on all fours (tabletop position) with your wrists under your shoulders and knees under your hips. Lift your right leg to a 90° angle with your thigh parallel to the mat.  With your foot flexed, pelvis tucked, neutral spine, lift and lower your leg as if you are kicking the ceiling.

Do 20 reps and repeat on other side.

Straight leg lifts

To do this move: Lie on your knees and elbows.  Put your right leg out straight with your foot flexed.  Tuck your pelvis and lift your right leg (it should be difficult to lift your leg high because you should feel the pull from the tuck) and lower back to the mat.

Do 20 reps and repeat on other side.

Glute bridges

To do this move: Lie on your back on the mat with knees bent and feet on the floor.  Lift your hips to the sky, pushing through your heels.  You should be in a straight line from your shoulders to your knees. Hold for 3 seconds.  Lower your hips to a hover and lift again.

Single leg glute bridges

To do this move: Complete glute bridge (above) with right leg straight out from hip.

Do 20 reps and repeat on other side.

Add in a round of arms and cardio for a longer workout.

I’m very excited about these! I hate just sitting and watching TV. I really want to get a treadmill so that I can walk and watch. These may buy me some time until I can save for a treadmill.

    • Jessica June 27, 2016 at 6:17 pm

Haha. Yes! I have been wanting a stationary bike to do the same thing. For now I will stick with these. 😉

  • Stacy June 24, 2016 at 10:17 am

I hate squats so I’m glad to see they aren’t included in this workout!

    • Jessica June 27, 2016 at 6:18 pm

Agreed. I wanted to highlight other booty moves since squats always get all of the attention.

  • Kelly June 24, 2016 at 10:56 am

Great suggestions – I do all of them but the single leg glute bridges. I’ll definitely add that one to the mix!
