This year, I have been working on challenging myself. One of the ways I decided to challenge my body is work with a personal trainer. I shared some basics about LFT Personal Training in Plano last month. Now, after three months of working once or twice a week with a personal trainer, I have a new appreciation for their benefits. Trainers do more than just count reps for you. Here are 5 reasons you should work with a personal trainer.
Trainers motivate and encourage
One of the biggest benefits I gained from working with LFT was motivation and encouragement. When I was getting close to giving up, Robert would encourage me to continue and push me past my comfort zone . I can’t tell you how many times his “only 3 left” or “way to go”s got me through the rest of the set. If I was working out on my own, I know I wouldn’t have the motivation to push myself as hard as I did with a trainer. Trainers have a way of challenging you and motivating you to keep going, just when you think you have nothing left.
Trainers help you create goals
I knew I wanted to work with a trainer to get my body in great shape for surf camp. Robert help me set specific goals on toning and losing body fat percentage while working on balance and strength training. It can be difficult to nail down exactly what you want to accomplish, but trainers are great at asking questions and helping you figure it out.
Trainers help you get results
Not only do they do a great job of helping you create realistic goals, they help you achieve them. Robert held me accountable for my workouts and helped me with my meal planning to ensure I was able to meet my goals. Today, I am much stronger than I was when I walked in the first week in January and decreased my body fat percentage by 4%. I feel stronger and notice a huge difference in my balance, which is why I was able to surf during part of the trip.
Trainers keep you safe
I didn’t realize how uneducated I was on the proper way to lift and use weights. Not only do trainers show you the correct form, but they watch you during the moves to make sure you are keeping proper form. This protects your muscles, joints, and body, but it also allows you to get the best results in the quickest amount of time.
Above all else, working with a trainer is fun. They take the guesswork out of it for you, so you can just complete the move. Several days I was exhausted after work and the last thing I wanted to do was workout, but after I finished my session, I felt great! Even when I was majorly struggling (TRX bands, I am looking at you), I had fun. Each day I came in, I had a different workout. The variety kept me on my toes and kept the workout fun.
