Colton and I were invited to happy hour at Mi Dia From Scratch for a tasting last week. We went here for Valentine’s Day this year, and it has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Plano. My friend and I have even made it our mission to try every margarita on the menu before we die (which is a crazy feat because there are so many to choose from).
Currently, happy hour at Mi Dia is Monday through Friday 3-6pm.

What to drink
One of the things I love the most about Mi Dia is their passion for tequila. Every bartender and waiter really knows their stuff. Since Colton is interested in learning more about tequila, he asked a ton of questions while we were there. Derrick, our bartender, really spent time talking with us about the different tequilas and drinks he was making.
We visited during happy hour, so I tried a couple of different drinks. One is the Hibiscus 16, which is similar to the Hibiscus champagne margarita, but without the dry ice and champagne. It was the perfect balance of sweet and savory.
The drink of the month was a watermelon margarita, the Midday Summer Dream. It was the perfect summer drink.
Colton got traditional with it, so that he could really taste the differences in the tequilas. Derrick took great care of us and explained everything thoroughly.
What to eat
Mi Dia is great at coming up with new menu items. Their menu is always changing and evolving with what’s fresh and in season. We talked with Derrick and Ron, the manager about what their favorite menu items were. Ron recommended the seafood enchiladas for Colton.
Not only was this meal beautiful, it was incredibly flavorful.
I ordered the duck carnitas, based on the glowing reviews from Ron and Derrick. Hands down, these tacos were the best I have ever had. They were juicy, had a hint of sweet to them, and were very filling. My takeaway: don’t be afraid to try new meat! I am a big fan of tacos, but I usually order some form of chicken or pork.
Lastly, we finished off our meal with a shot of the house strawberry infused Patron XO Dark Cocoa.
