About Henry’s Tavern
Henry’s started in Portland, OR and now has 7 locations (Seattle, Portland, Denver, and Plano). They pride themselves on being a local tavern and have an extensive list of local beers and products bought locally. Henry’s Tavern in Plano is currently the only Texas location, and you can get to it right off of 121 and Legacy. They have a great menu full of delicious food and drinks as well as a killer happy hour.
Cari was our waitress and she was an absolute gem. She was everything you want in a server; kind, attentive, and gave us a ton of amazing recommendations.
What to drink
If you are a beer drinker, you will find yourself in beer Heaven at Henry’s Tavern. Don’t worry if you can’t choose what beer to drink, they do Beer Flights. Not only do they a huge beer menu, but they have craft cocktails and wine as well.
Be sure to check out their happy hour Monday-Friday 3-7pm. Many of their drinks are $5 and they have a ton of food items for happy hour prices as well.
The Eastside Elderflower is made with gin, St. Germain, cucumber, mint, and lime.
If vodka is more your style, check out the Lavender Cosmo.
We tried a couple of the popular happy hour drinks too.
If you are a fan of whiskey, definitely ask for a Whiskey Sour.
I loved the refreshing Basil Gimlet.
What to eat
The hardest decision you will make at Henry’s Tavern is what to order to eat. I promise you everything on the menu sounds delicious. Everything we tried was as great as it sounded.
One of the most popular appetizers, which also happens to be available on the happy hour menu, is the Three Cheese Spinach and Artichoke Dip. They serve it with warm chips and fresh vegetables. I have had many a spinach dip, but never served with veggies.
I highly recommend the Twisted Giant Bavarian Soft Pretzel served with your choice of three sauces. We had the cheddar ale and onion, porter mustard and creamy gorgonzola.
Although it was hot outside, that didn’t stop us from ordering a bowl of the Slow Cooked Tavern Chili.
My favorite thing I ordered was the Mac and Cheese Burger. Imagine a delicious burger with applewood smoked bacon and then a layer of mac and cheese. Absolute perfection.
The Philly Cheese Steak was flavorful, juicy and another great pick. Order it with the Gorgonzola Fries.
Last but not least, don’t leave without ordering dessert. The Ice Cream Sandwich comes in a full or half order (this is the half order). The make the cake sandwiches in house and stuff it with vanilla ice cream.
