Innisbrook Golf and Spa Resort + Tampa Beaches

In September, I won a free trip for 4 on the radio (The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show).  All I had to do was be caller 10 and I won a trip for 4 to Innisbrook Golf and Spa Resort with flight and rental car included. We decided to take our trip during spring break (one of the fun perks of being a school counselor). Here are our thoughts on the resort and it’s surroundings.

The resort

Innisbrook is a golf and spa resort located in North Palm Harbor Florida, not far from Tampa.  Many people own condos on the resort and spend months at a time or retire here.  Although we didn’t see a lot of young adults on the property, there were several families and there appears to be several activities for children.  Innisbrook includes 5 golf courses, tennis courts, several pools, fitness center, spa and more.

The grounds

Driving in to Innisbrook, you will immediately notice how beautiful the grounds are.  We loved how green and luscious everything was.  The golf courses looked beautiful, but we didn’t want to pay the additional fee to use it.  Unfortunately, unless you book a golf and stay package golf isn’t included.  We were also disappointed that tennis or racquetball were not included with hotel reservations either.  You can rent bikes, quad bikes and double bikes to ride around the resort as well.

Mini golf

Although there were several things not included with the reservations, there were a lot of activities that were included.  Basketball, volleyball, shuffleboard, mini golf, and the pools are all included activities.  They have a short nature walk you can check out too.

The room

Originally, we were supposed to have a 2 bedroom suite, so we were surprised to find an extra bedroom when we walked inside.  The reviews online say that the rooms are outdated, however I thought they were charming.  Outdated? Yes, but it felt like visiting your grandma’s house.  Our suite was gigantic and could have easily slept 8 or more adults.  The master closet felt like an extra bedroom.

The food

Innisbrooks offers a variety of restaurants to satisfy all palates and budgets.  The most expensive restrant on the resort is Packard’s and they suggest reservations.  We tried the Market Salamander Grille our first night and indulged on flatbreads and cocktails.  They have a beautiful patio with fireplaces to enjoy a nightcap after dinner.

While we were there, we tried the Turnberry Pub’s breakfast buffet.  It’s $16 and includes eggs, any style, a variety of meats, potatoes, pancakes, french toast, and biscuits and gravy.  We also enjoyed salads and drinks at the grill at the Loch Ness pool.

Our favorite breakfast, however, was right down the road at Tiffany’s.  Yes, we had breakfast at Tiffany’s and it was wonderful.  They have a menu full of every breakfast food you can imagine for great prices. Not to mention, a full bar to go with it.  Needless to say, we were happy we found this gem so close to the resort.

Aren’t the menus at Tiffany’s adorable?

The beaches

Tampa’s beaches have white sand and pretty water compared to most other beaches in the United States.  They also have beautiful sunsets.

Along the causeway in Tampa, there are a couple of fun beach bars worth checking out.  Whiskey Joe’s has a laid-back vibe.  You can play some cornhole, listen to live music, and chill on the sand with fire pits, drinks and food.  Just across the water is Beach Bar, a tiki-style restaurant with a large patio.

St. Petersburg (St. Pete)

We didn’t spend much time in these beaches other than just to drive around and grab dinner.  One of the best parts of beach towns is driving around and looking at all of the cute beach houses and little neighborhoods.  St. Petersburg had some great ones.

We stumbled across Ceviche in St. Petersburg and had delicious tapas after celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at Courigan’s Irish Pub’s block party. Innisbrook Tampa Beaches Travel Blogger North Dallas Blog Blogger Love You More Too

Clearwater Beach

Our favorite beach by far was Clearwater Beach.  It tops most lists as the best beach in Florida because of it’s fun beach town, great sand, and water.  We could have spent hours just laying out in the sun, listening to the waves crash.

Clearwater offers visitors a ton of great things to do and places to eat too.  Highlights include dinner at Spotted Donkey Cantina, drinks at Jammin’z Beach Bar, and dancing at Shepard’s Beach Resort.

Overall

We had an awesome time on this free trip and got to experience a side of Florida none of us have ever been to.  Although we didn’t spend too much time on the resort, we enjoyed our stay and found the room to be comfortable and nice.  I enjoyed my morning runs through the resort and loved relaxing by the pool.  Tampa’s beaches are beautiful and nearby, so Innisbrook is a nice, quiet resort nearby.

  • Rachel March 27, 2017 at 8:42 pm

How awesome that you won a trip! I was out on the Innisbrook golf course once but didn’t have a chance to check out the resort part. It sounds like you had a great getaway!

    • Jessica March 30, 2017 at 9:19 pm

I know! Such a fun prize to win. 🙂 The golf course is beautiful. Makes me wish I played golf.

  • Sharon March 28, 2017 at 7:52 am

It looks like you had a blast! I used to go to St. Pete every summer with my family (I’m originally from Orlando). The water there is so gorgeous. I can’t wait to go back!

    • Jessica March 30, 2017 at 9:21 pm

AH! I would have loved to grow up so close to St. Pete. Our closest beach is Galveston and its bleh.

  • Rachel Ritlop March 28, 2017 at 7:58 am

love this! I am craving a trip to st. pete and the tampa area!

    • Jessica March 30, 2017 at 9:21 pm

Go! You won’t regret it. 🙂

  • Charlotte March 28, 2017 at 9:53 am

That’s friggin awesome that you won a trip through a radio station! What a beautiful place. I’m totally drooling over that flatbread pic, by the way (there’s a comedian, Iliza Shlesinger and she has a very funny bit about flatbreads!). So glad to hear you had a great time, and love all of your photos!!

    XOXO

    • Jessica March 30, 2017 at 9:22 pm

Thanks, pretty girl! It was kind of surreal. I will have to check her out. I am obsessed with flatbreads and this one was delicious. Any time you put Brussels on something, I am in. 🙂

  • Mia March 28, 2017 at 9:55 am

Oh my goodness! We just got back from Tampa. We went to Clearwater Beach as well and it was amazing. 🙂 So glad you had a great trip.

    • Jessica March 31, 2017 at 8:01 am

Wasn’t it so beautiful?! I love seeing pretty beaches like that in the US. Glad you had a good one too. 🙂

  • Jennifer Smith March 28, 2017 at 11:16 am

So St. Pete and St. Petersburg are the same thing, I think you mean St. Pete Beach 😉 I’m a St. Pete native and I’m super biased but It’s the best city in Florida. Glad you didn’t spend too much time in the resort, the beaches are way better!

    • Jessica March 31, 2017 at 8:02 am

I made the change. 🙂 Thanks for clarifying. Google had me all kinds of confused.

  • Krysten March 28, 2017 at 11:21 am

I honestly thought that the whole radio station thing was fake. How cool that you won. Looks like an AMAZING trip, I’m kind of jealous.

    • Jessica March 31, 2017 at 8:06 am

Haha. It was pretty awesome. I couldn’t believe I had won even after I hung up.

  • Irina March 28, 2017 at 12:10 pm

Wow! Amazing pictures. Tampa looks amazing. I really hope to be able to visit America some day. I feel like I should live there at least a year to be able to visit all the beautiful places I only saw in photos.

    • Jessica March 31, 2017 at 8:07 am

You would love it. There are so many things to do. It’s huge and has lots of beauty.

  • Chrissy March 28, 2017 at 1:08 pm

Love that sunset photo! And the beaches look amazing! I’d love to visit Clearwater Beach someday!

    • Jessica March 31, 2017 at 8:09 am

It was amazing. Thank you. We just happened to be in the right place at the right time. You should definitely make a trip. It’s a great place.

  • Karen H. March 28, 2017 at 2:08 pm

How cool that you won this trip!?! I always assumed that the winners of these type of radio contests would be hit with so many restrictions that they end up never taking the trips. So glad that wasn’t the case for you. I really enjoy the gulf side of Florida and find Clearwater fascinating because of all the Scientology connections.

    • Jessica March 31, 2017 at 8:16 am

I know! So crazy!! Haha. The restrictions weren’t bad at all, and I am so thankful we were able to take it. The gulf side is beautiful.

  • Erin March 28, 2017 at 6:35 pm

Wow! Those pictures look beautiful. It looks like you had so much fun. I’ve had a small conspiracy that maybe those radio things are just a hoax. It’s nice to see that someone actually got to do something fun and it’s not something dumb like a mug or something. Congratulations!

    • Jessica March 31, 2017 at 8:25 am

Haha. They aren’t! It was super fun and I am glad I won. 🙂 Thank you.

  • Lindsay March 28, 2017 at 7:44 pm

Wow winning a trip on the radio?! And I love those Tiffanys menus, how adorable!!

    • Jessica March 31, 2017 at 8:25 am

I know! So cool. 🙂 The menus were a highlight for us. They were so cute.

  • Alissa March 29, 2017 at 12:45 am

Looks like there’s a lot to do there. I especially love the photos!

    • Jessica March 31, 2017 at 8:30 am

      There was! Thank you. 🙂

  • Divya March 29, 2017 at 5:34 am

Perhaps the husband and I will plan a trip to Tampa this summer! I don’t get much time off so we can’t go out of the country. But, since we never got to have our honeymoon, I think Tampa seems like the perfect place to vacation! (Also, I REALLY want to have breakfast at Tiffanys).

    • Jessica March 31, 2017 at 8:31 am

You should! It would be a beautiful place to celebrate your belated honeymoon!! 🙂 Breakfast at Tiffany’s is not glamorous, but my oh my it’s delicious.

  • Dominique March 29, 2017 at 8:25 am

Those beaches look lovely, and that sunset is just gorgeous!! Love the look of that menu at Tiffany’s too 🙂

  • Jessica March 31, 2017 at 8:34 am

    They are. Everything was wonderful.
