July Favorites + Gratitude

July 28, 2017
Friday Favorites Dallas Fitness Blog Blogger Love You More Too

The last couple of months have been crazy, so I didn’t share a favorites post. Well, I assure you, it’s back in full force this month. Here are some of my favorite things from July.

Some of these products were given to me and others are just products I love. Please read this disclosure.

Favorite workout accessory

I received a Mio Slice to try out, and I used it our whole trip in Portland. What separates the Mio Slice from other fitness bands? It uses PAI (personal activity intelligence) technology instead of step tracking. I love that it has a heart rate monitor, so it can give me an accurate idea of how many calories I am burning per workout. It tracks sleep, calories burned and more. My favorite part, it’s waterproof, so I can wear it swimming.

Favorite destination

Van Life King's Canyon Sequoia National Park Travel Blog Blogger Love You More Too

We have done a ton of traveling this summer, but my favorite destination this summer was Sequoia National Park. Honestly, it was hard to pick just one destination, but I was obsessed with the giant trees and felt like a fairy the whole time I wandered through.

Favorite phone accessory

I have the cutest new phone cover from Tech21 that I adore. Since I am always on the go, it’s the perfect cover for me. Not to mention, it is scratch and yellow resistant as well as drop protected up to 6 feet. Mine is the clear Urban Edition. Be sure to check out all of their cases to find one that fits your style.

Favorite sweet treat

Godiva now has soft serve, chocolate stuffed (and dipped) strawberries, and the chocolixir. These treats are a great way to cool off during the 100 degrees days. I’m obsessed with the chocolixir drink.

Favorite Instagram post

For our last night, we are #glamping in #hoodriver at #westclifflodge .

Next week, I will share the full recap of Portland/Mt. Hood/Hood River, but for now, enjoy our beautiful clamping tent.

Grateful List

  1. Getting to leave the hot weather and head to Portland/Hood River where the weather was perfection.
  2. My brother and his wife are having a baby, so Colton and I are officially going to be an aunt and uncle. That baby is going to be spoiled rotten.
  3. We made it back home in Maeve last month safely! At one point, her brakes went out going down the mountain in Sequoia, but we were able to slow it down manually and pull over just in time.
  4. My sweet friend who watched our pups and our house while we have been gone half the summer.
  5. Southern Chic Wax. I found a place in Allen that not only waxes, but will dye my eyebrows and eyelashes. Now, I can go swimming, workout, and more without mascara running down my face. This was incredibly helpful this summer for all of our trips! I hardly wore makeup on our road trip. They are affordable, nice, and brilliant at what they do. Carrie and Courtney are seriously the sweetest! Check them out.

Awww, love all of your photos and favorites! That glamping shot is adorable–I’ve always wanted to try that. Awww, congrats on soon becoming an auntie! That’s so exciting <3 <3 <3 And thanks for introducing me to new fitness tracker… I have a Fitbit but it's a bit older now and doesn't hold up as well as it did in the beginning so I'm thinking about upgrading it too. Hope you have a great weekend 🙂

Thank you. I can’t wait to be an Aunt. It’s going to be my favorite job in life, I am sure.

Try the Mio for sure! It’s a great tracker.

Love the idea of a grateful list, I think I should start my own! I’ve been thinking about exercise bands for a while, can’t really decide what to get! I like the one you have, very small and feminine!

Thanks so much. It’s been a great way to reflect at the end of the month. This tracker is so great. I have loved it.

That glamping tent looks glorious! I could get down with camping if that’s where I got to stay. 🙂 Also, that chocolate-covered strawberry looks amazing. 🙂

    • Reply Jessica August 1, 2017 at 9:59 pm

Thank you. It was really an incredible trip. I could have eaten 100 of the strawberries.

  • Reply David Elliott July 29, 2017 at 12:32 am

That definitely looks like it would be a fun glamping style tent. Lots of fun. I love the grateful list. It’s always good to be thankful for the things that we have.

Love the glamping accommodations. Sequoia National Park is amazing. It’s one of our favorite places to visit.

    • Reply Jessica August 1, 2017 at 10:00 pm

Me too! I wish I could visit Sequoia every year.

  • Reply Afroza Khan July 30, 2017 at 3:42 pm

Omg the insta post of your glamping trip is making me want to go on a trip so bad! I went glamping last year in Utah and it was just amazing. Everyone should go glamping at least once!

    • Reply Jessica August 1, 2017 at 10:02 pm

It’s so gorgeous. I agree with you completely.

PS chocolixir drink sounds delicious totally stopping by the Godiva in my local mall next shopping trip!

    • Reply Jessica August 1, 2017 at 10:04 pm

That’s exactly why I do it. It’s a great way for me to remember the highlights and limit the negativity.

      That drink is so good.

Yes! It’s a great one. I have three different trackers and this one really does it all.

  • Reply Channing July 31, 2017 at 11:09 am

I’ve heard a lot about those fitness trackers for a couple of years now, but I haven’t been too sold on buying it yet. I guess I just don’t understand what they can do a lot differently from other fitness “helpers”.

    • Reply Jessica August 1, 2017 at 10:21 pm

This one monitors your heart rate during workouts and throughout the day to help make sure you are getting in enough activity. I just like being aware of how hard I am working and how many calories I am burning.

  • Reply Carol Cassara July 31, 2017 at 11:30 am

There’s so much to be grateful for! It looks like you had an amazing month altogether! Congrats to your brother! I hope the baby is healthy and strong! That sweet treat sounds so decadent!

    • Reply Jessica August 1, 2017 at 10:22 pm

Absolutely. Thank you so much. They are so excited, and so are we. 🙂

      It was really yummy.

  • Reply Lindsay July 31, 2017 at 2:09 pm

hey girl! LOVE that you linked up with us. Please, please link up more often. Your posts are a breath of fresh air, Jessica, and always inspiring/motivating.
I MUST check out the Mio Sport. I’ve given up on other brands, frankly, and always keen to see other brands out there and what their features are.
Now, I go camping but yours, glamping, um, HOW FREAKING BEAUTIFUL is that?! I definitely want to do something similar one day, and tree hammock/tents. Those would be so cool.
Isn’t it the best when you have friends or family that will stay with your four-legged kids when away? We are also so blessed – if it isn’t my mom looking after my brood, we have friends that move into our place and look after Charlie and Baxter when were away. Such a relief not worrying about them for one second. Sure, I miss them but worry, not at all. 🙂

Have a great week, Jessica. 🙂

    • Reply Jessica August 1, 2017 at 10:25 pm

Awh. Thank you so much, Lindsay. That means so much. Seriously.

It’s a great tracker. I have three and it really does it all.

The clamping trip spoiled me for sure. We camp a lot, but this was so gorgeous. Everything about it was perfect.

Yes! They make it so easy to enjoy the trip knowing they are being taken care of.

Have a great week girl! 🙂

For me – grateful that God healed me from vertigo!

    • Reply Jessica August 2, 2017 at 10:09 am

That is absolutely something to be grateful for. Vertigo is terrible. I am so thankful you aren’t experiencing that any more.

Great list! I have a Fitbit and love it, but love trying out new products. I’ll have to look into the Mio Slice.

    • Reply Jessica August 2, 2017 at 10:10 am

I have a Fitbit too. I like that this one is smaller and waterproof. 🙂
