Since one of my words of 2018 is challenge, I decided to up my fitness game by getting a personal trainer. There are many different options for training in north Dallas, however the more I learned more about LFT Personal Training, the more I knew that it was the best option for me. Today starts my 6th week, and I have already noticed a huge difference in my strength.
LFT was created by Julie Hoang, owner of Fit180 in Dallas, because she wanted to create a training concept that worked for every schedule and every budget. She changed the normal way of doing personal training and made it more convenient and cost effective. Not only do they offer same day appointments, but they offer pay as you go monthly memberships with perks. The membership rate makes it easy for everyone to have access to personal training, which was Julie’s goal from the beginning. The membership option includes one session a month plus discounted sessions throughout the month. They also have a great referral program that you can take advantage of as a member.
During my introduction session, Robert asked me what my fitness goals were and talked with me about what I wanted to get from training. We came up with a plan together to determine the number of sessions we wanted monthly to do to accomplish my goals. Then, we got to work, and I was hooked after my first session.
They also set up a nutrition plan based on my weight, goals, and lifestyle. I finally understand what macros are and the importance of them. To be honest, the nutrition piece is where I struggle most, but meal planning challenges, tips, and accountability have been extremely helpful.
LFT is located in West Plano, right off of The Dallas North Tollway and Parker. I like that it is not a huge facility, but it has everything you need for a full body workout. They utilize every bit of space well and keep the number of clients training at a time to a minimum, so you never feel cramped. Since you aren’t working out a big gym, you don’t have to compete with other clients for equipment. Everything is individualized and 1-on-1, so you get your trainer’s full attention.
I really enjoy using the variety of the equipment during my workouts. Never in a million years did I ever think I would be able to do tire flips across the floor, but I did! Every session I try something I have never done before, and I love the feeling of crushing it.
There is an onsite shower too, so you can get ready after your workout if you need to. This is a great option if you workout before work or going out.
One of the best perks of LFT is their flexible scheduling. In order to accommodate your schedule, you will likely train with more than one trainer. This is great way to get a couple of different perspectives and areas of expertise to learn from. Part of their program is logging in notes from your session, so you don’t have to play catch up with each trainer. It flows seamlessly. Each one of the trainers I have met are friendly, attentive, and great encouragers.
Another thing that differentiates LFT from other training facilities are the workouts. You can choose what type of workout you want to do and your trainer will lead you through it. All of the sessions are 50 minutes and include a stretch session.
If weight loss is your goal, the burn it cardio session is a great way to get your heart rate up and burn calories. One of the newest classes, box it, is another fun cardio option to help get your heart pumping and burn calories utilizing boxing moves and exercises. Sometimes, you may just need to stretch, work on flexibility or muscle activation, so a fix it session will be right up your alley.
They also offer pair it up sessions. These workouts are designed for two people, so you can bring your favorite workout partner to sweat with you. If you don’t have a full hour, you can sign up for a 30 minute pick 2 session where your trainer will target 2 muscle groups.
For people wanting to work on isolated strength, the lift it workout is exactly what you need. Your trainer will push your muscle to failure so that you get stronger.
Each time I go in, I do the tone it sessions since my goal is to work on muscle tone and create long, lean muscles. These workouts mix cardio and repetition strength exercises. As someone who never thought I would enjoy lifting weights, I learned that I was wrong. LFT has been such a fun way of changing up my fitness routine.
Before LFT, I rarely lifted weights over 5 lbs. Now, I look forward to the challenge of using new equipment, lifting heavier weights and getting stronger. LFT makes personal training accessible to everyone. They work around my schedule, are just down the street from me, have low membership rates and great benefits. In the first 4 weeks, I lost 2.6% body fat (or 3.4 lbs of fat).
If you are in north Dallas and interested in seeing what the hype is about contact LFT for your free intro session. You won’t be sorry you did.
Disclosure: Thank you to LFT Personal Training for partnering with me on this adventure. All thoughts and opinions remain my own. As you know, I wouldn’t recommend a place if I didn’t absolutely love it. Thank you for supporting local businesses that support Love You More Too.
