May Favorites + Gratitude

June 4, 2019

I don’t know about anyone else, but May flew by for me. STAAR testing, end of school, Memorial Day are all just Xs in my calendar now. Tomorrow starts my first official day off and first day of summer.

Favorite summer beauty tip

Mistified Beauty is still my favorite beauty secret. As much as I try to embrace my paleness, I feel more confident with a tan. I won’t have a tan all summer, but when I do, I love that Amy comes right to my house. The color is very natural, lasts longer than any other tan I have had, and is able to be rinsed in 1-3 hours. The best part is, I don’t have to drive home with a sticky body and get tan all over my seats.

Favorite gift idea

Adam surprised me with a candle making class at The Candle Bar in Deep Ellum for my birthday. I had so much fun that I immediately signed my mom and MeMe up for a class for Mother’s Day.

During the class, you have two difficult decisions to make, and then the fun begins. You get to choose a vessel and scent, set the wick, and pour the wax. The whole class is just under an hour and BYOB, so you can enjoy mimosas while you make them.

Favorite Dallas festival

In May, Adam and I attended Kaaboo last month. Even though the weather was not on our side, I absolutely loved it. Cowboys Stadium is the perfect venue for a huge festival. No matter what stage we were at, there were always clean restrooms. There was plenty to do besides just the concerts. Around every corner was another sponsor with a beautiful booth and fun activities. I love that Dallas is becoming a hot spot for comedy, art, and music. Next year it will be even bigger and better and I cannot wait to see who they bring in.

Favorite workout

One of the things I love about Studiohop is getting to hop around a variety of studios. Even though I go to Pilates almost every morning, one of my favorite workouts is the Pro Style Dance class on Thursday nights at Xtend Barre. My fellow Dallas Fitness Ambassador babe, Melissa, teaches it. Believe me, I am not a dancer, but this class makes me feel like one. Honestly, it has helped with my confidence and self-esteem, because dancing was always an impossibility for me. On Thursdays when I take it, I feel like I can do the impossible.

Favorite fast- casual

Now that it’s summer, I have been craving greens and poke bowls. Who knew that in my thirties, I would love oysters and raw fish? Twenties Jessica would be disgusted, but with age comes wisdom. Char’d opened at CityLine in May and offers a variety of Asian influenced plates and bowls. Char’d has something for everyone, no matter what dietary restrictions they may have.

  1. I celebrated my sweet brother turning 30 this month, and I am so grateful for the man that he has become.
  2. Dallas Fitness Ambassadors have teamed up with NAMI this year, and I got to be a part of the 5k to raise money and awareness for mental health awareness.
  3. Dancing and Singing to The Killers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pit Bull, The Avett Brothers and more at KAABOO.
  4. Watching Adam learn how to play Craps at the Choctaw Lounge during Kaaboo.
  5. In May, I woke up almost every day at 5am to take 6am classes. It feels so good to be in a workout routine again.
