Saturday I had the incredible opportunity to host a sponsored live event for the Mizuno Wave Rider 20 at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Allen, TX (Dallas). Five influencers and their guests joined me at Dick’s to learn about Mizuno’s newest Wave Rider iteration, get fitted, and take them out for a test run.
Once everyone arrived, we gathered around the middle of Dick’s new, premium, full-service footwear deck. Dick’s has put a lot of work into making this the go-to section of the store. They have plenty of employees that can get you fitted in the perfect shoe, and there is even a treadmill to run on so you can test it out.
Mizuno Wave Rider 20
CJ from Mizuno gave us some background information on Mizuno as well as explain the wave technology of the Wave Rider.
Mizuno has been around for 110 years, and they are celebrating 20 years of running in the United States. The Wave Rider is Mizuno’s oldest running shoe. The shoe gets its name because a physical wave encourages a bond between runners (saying hello, congratulations, welcome) and makes them feel good. Just as that bond makes runners feel good, the Wave® Technology does too. With the Wave Rider you don’t have to worry about wearing out just one part of your shoe. The wave plate absorbs the shock from the impact of running and distributes it evenly throughout the shoe. You can read more about Wave Technology here.
The cloudwave technology is the main thing this distingushes the Wave Rider 20 from previous models. This makes the shoe more cushioned, but it acts as a spring too.
I love how lightweight this shoe is. The inside is fully cushioned, but I can feel the even shock absorption. It is soft, smooth and responsive. The wave plate’s shock absorption allows it to wear down evenly, unlike most shoes that wear down where there is more impact. This allows your 50th race to still feel like your first. Another thing I like about the Wave Riders are the cool colors and sleek design, so I can wear them out to brunch after working out.
After we learned about the Wave Rider 20, each guest was presented with a pair of shoes in a gorgeous platinum box. Everyone was so excited!
I got my pair a little earlier, so I had fun watching Colton unwrap his. This was his first pair of real running shoes since high school. Check out my Facebook live video to see the unveiling.
After everyone got fitted, we were able to take them out for a test run during our scavenger hunt. Each influencer and their guest were a team, and they had a list of items to find around the store. Since I was hosting, I decided to “referee” and cheer on the teams. It was hysterical watching everyone run around the store looking for items like shoelaces that were right behind us.
Once the scavenger hunt competition concluded, we played in the photo booth and ate snacks. Our photo booth was marathon themed, and there were a ton of fun props to play with.
For snacks, we enjoyed a make your own trail mix full of delicious goodies. This was a perfect way to refuel after all the running around involved with the scavenger hunt.
We also had a rainbow fruit bowl with strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple, kiwi, blueberries, and grapes.
Each attendee got to leave with a swag bag with Mizuno goodies and a new pair of shoes.
Needless to say, Saturday was a blast! Not only did I hang out with a bunch of my friends and fellow fitness ambassadors, but I got a great new pair of shoes to continue running in! Check out your local Dick’s Sporting Goods to grab a pair for yourself (or find them online).
