Saturday, I went to Brawl and Brews with The Barre Code Plano at Nine Band Brewing Co.  We had a killer brawl class, and I torched over 500 calories in under an hour. Afterwards, we got to tour the brewery and enjoy a pint out on the beautiful patio.  For more photos from this event, please check out Love You More Too on Facebook (and like the page while you are at it!).

Nine Band Brewing Co. is located in Allen, right off of 75 and Bethany.  It’s the perfect middle ground between Plano and McKinney.  Nine Band rents out their taproom and patio for special events like these, or you can take a public tour on Saturdays at 12:00, 1:00, or 2:00pm.

The taproom

Nine Band has a taproom that is the perfect spot to hang out with friends before dinner.  Check out their website for a list of their hours.  Its large, with plenty of tables and TVs to keep everyone entertained.

There is also a covered patio with tables, chairs, and a walk-up bar window perfect for a sunny Texas day.

Tables+ chairs moved for class, but it’s so spacious!

The beer

Nine Band Brewing Co got its name because armadillos native to Texas have nine bands on their shell.  Each one of their beers has  a “Texas-themed” name, even including Texas urban legends.  Disclaimer, I do not drink beer because I don’t like the taste, but everyone I was with loved the pale ale.  I some comments like “I don’t usually like beer, but this is great!” and “I love the flavors in this one!”love you more too north dallas blogger plano lifestyle blogger nine band brewing co brawl and brews

Currently, they offer eight different flavors (the Oktoberfest is seasonal and will be available at the end of July, according to Ian, Nine Band’s brewmaster and our brew tour guide).

The brewery tour

Ian, the brewmaster, walked us through the whole process of how Nine Band beer is made.  It’s fascinating to learn about the ins and outs and everything that goes in to a drink.  Every detail is meticulous.  From the flavors of the grain, to the science and art of making the beer.  I think my favorite thing I learned that Ian calls local farmers to pick up the grain after it has been used to feed to their cows.  (Leave it up to the animal lover to tune in to that fact).

I love visiting breweries and wineries. Next time I head to the Dallas area, I’ll have to make it a point to stop by. Looks like a great place!

That looks like it was so fun! I really want to do a brewery tour. We have so many of them in Florida now too.

It was really informative. I didn’t realize everything that went in to making a beer. 🙂

I’m not much of a beer drinker but I love brewery tours and taprooms. I love the woodwork of the tables and stools. How cool that you got a workout and a tour. What a clever idea. Looks like a blast!

    • Jessica June 7, 2016 at 3:06 pm

Me either, but I am just like you. I like learning about it and seeing the behind the scenes stuff. It was a really cool place.

I LOVE brewery tours. We have done two before; one in Milwaukee (I’m from WI) and another in Golden, Colorado (The Coors brewery tour). It’s funny because I don’t even like the taste of beer, but beer is such a historic thing from where I’m from that I like it regardless. haha. Looks like you had a great time!

    • Jessica June 7, 2016 at 3:07 pm

I know what you mean. I don’t like it, but after our Guiness tour in Ireland, I drank my pint out of respect. haha. This event was a blast!

Love the theme of this brewery, and love the yoga there, too! Been seeing that pop up all across the country lately — how fun!

It is becoming huge down here. Lots of people are doing it and it’s great! I love when different community businesses get involved in different ways.

  • Charlotte June 7, 2016 at 11:33 am

Personally I love wineries since I can’t drink beer but this looks like an amazing event! Great pictures 🙂

    • Jessica June 7, 2016 at 3:09 pm

Thank you, Charlotte! I love wineries too, but this place was really cool. 🙂

This looks so fun! Great shots of the brewery. I wish I was more of a beer connoisseur and be able to appreciate beer more. Might be a great spot to stop in a learn more about the flavors.

    • Jessica June 8, 2016 at 9:39 am

I agree. I appreciate it and the hard work and art work that comes in to it. I just don’t prefer the taste. haha. It was so informative.
