Oh, October, how I love thee. Actually, it’s more like the entire fall season, but October kick starts that for me. If you haven’t tried goat yoga, this is the month to do it, since there are several places hosting events this month. There are several north Dallas food and fitness events you should be excited about this month. Here are a few, and, as always, I will update throughout the month.

Barrestore for charity

Sign up for the Sunday October 1 barrestore class at The Barre Code Plano, earn two challenge stamps, and bring a required donation for Operation Kindness. Class is full, but you can secure your spot on the waitlist.

Castellini wine dinner

Head over to Urban Crust on October 2 for 5 courses paired with 5 Castellani wines. Save your spot today!

Nine Band Oktoberfest

If you missed the September Oktoberfests, now is your chance to have fun. From 11am-11pm on October 7, head over to Nine Band Brewing Co for a great time. Grab your VIP ticket today and enjoy beer, a commemorative stein, and BBQ plate. NFL players Demetric Evans and Flozell Adams will be there signing autographs too!

Rescue goat yoga

Goat yoga at Four Bullets Brewery for charity? Yes, please! Enjoy an hour goat yoga class, then have an additional hour to enjoy beer and got selfies. All of the ticket sales goes to support the two charities, www.HeresYourReminder.org & Lone Star Ranch and Rescue. These classes fill up fast, so be sure to grab your ticket for either (or both) October 7 or October 14

Keep a breast Barre Code donation class

Take a Barre Code Class at The Barre Code Plano on October 14 at 11:00am for a minimum $12 donation to raise funds for breast cancer awareness. Sign up HERE.

Plano International Festival

On October 14, from 11am-5pm, head over to Haggard Park for the Plano International Festival. Enjoy a variety of foods, fun, and entertainment that your whole family will enjoy. There will also be a fitness and wellness fair from 10am-1pm in the Courtyard Theater. Get more details here.

Halloween cocktail dinner

Head over to Urban Rio on October 17 for their October dinner, Halloween cocktail dinner that features 5 courses paired with 5 spooky cocktails. Reserve your spot here today before it fills up.

Beats + Eats

Although not technically north Dallas, the Granada Theater is one of my favorite places in Dallas.  Beats and Eats is in it’s second year, and you shouldn’t miss out. The last event is October 19 at 7:00pm. Chef Daniel Pittman of L U C K Trinity Groves has a fantastic 4-course menu that will be paired with delicious cocktails. Steinfest

Don’t miss out on the fun of Steinfest, an Oktoberfest-style event at Haggard Park, hosted by Historic Downtown Plano Association. Enjoy beer, German-inspired cuisine, live music, Weiner dog fashion show, keg bowling and much more. Come anytime on Friday, October 20 from 5-11pm or Saturday October 21 10am-10pm. Haunt Jaunt

Enjoy a fun, Halloween-themed night 5k or 1 mile fun run through Plano’s nature preserve on October 21. Register today to save your spot, and have some fun this Halloween season.

McKinney Wine and Music Festival

Love wine? Then, head over to the McKinney Wine and Music Festival at Adriatica on October 21 from 12-4pm. Try wines from 12 of the best north Texas wineries, food from a variety of restaurants, a grape stomp, shopping at over 50 boutiques and family friendly activities. The event is free, but wine tastings are charged by the taste and glass. Read more about the event here.

Balcones Whiskey dinner

Enjoy 4 courses paired with 4 Balcones, a Texas whiskey, cocktails on October 23 at Urban Crust. You must have a reservation to attend, so reserve your spot today.

Brawl-o-ween

Sign up for this fun, 75 minute brawl bootcamp at The Barre Code Plano on October 28 at 10am. Compete in the costume contest, get a killer workout, and enjoy post-class apple cider sangria and pumpkin muffins. Register HERE before the class fills up!

Ongoing events

Free Yoga at CityLine

Free yoga is back at CityLine every Wednesday evening (6:30pm) and Saturday morning (9 am) this fall. Reef Point Yoga will lead these flows. Check out some of the class themes and donation drives for October:

  • Wednesday, Oct. 4: Participants receive a free taco from Taco Diner in honor of National Taco Day
  • Saturday, Oct. 7: Wear pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
  • Saturday, Oct. 14: Participants receive free doughnut holes from Top Pot in honor of National Dessert Day
  • Saturday, Oct. 21: Wear fall colors
  • Saturday, Oct. 28: Wear a Halloween costume

Goat Yoga Richardson

Goat Yoga Richardson is a grassroots organization for community and private goat yoga classes in their backyard.

    these yoga goat events are everywhere…i need to really check it out, although im still not sure how comfortable i am with goats around me.
