The Purpose

I live in a life of busyness.  Right now, I am a full time school counselor, active member in an online fitness community, member of a local barre studio where I work one night a week, attend a home group with my church, assist with my husband’s photography business and have various commitments with friends and family throughout the week.  The number one question I was asked when I shared my dream of starting a blog was “why add one more thing? What is the purpose?”

Let me tell you.

I have a passion for encouraging others and fostering community.  It started with working with children and developed to adults when I became a part of the Tone It Up fitness community.  Women can be so hard on each other, but even harder on themselves.  I want this blog to be a place where others are inspired and encouraged.  It’s a place for me to share uplifting and informational life posts with anyone who wants to read it.

Food is delicious, and cooking is one of my love languages (acts of service, actually).  Throughout the years, I have enjoyed adapting recipes or coming up with my own ideas.  I love making healthy meals and try to keep them lean, clean and green.  Another passion of mine is entertaining and cooking/baking for friends.  Now, I have a place to share the things I’ve discovered.

Since last year, I have been challenging myself physically.  I was never an athlete in high school or considered myself strong.  Up until my mid-twenties, I was just a thin person who could eat and drink whatever I wanted without consequence.  Last year, I became active doing Tone It Up workouts at home, developed a joy for running, and joined a local barre studio.  All of these activities together have helped create another passion, fitness.

I want a place I can share my passions for life, encouraging, food and fitness with others.

How is North Dallas different from Dallas?

I love Dallas!  There is so much to do and so many great places to shop, eat, and live.  Colton and I shoot most of our weddings in Dallas and spend a lot of time there.  There are also hundreds of wonderful bloggers covering Dallas businesses and restaurants.  Our home is in Plano and we always find ourselves searching for new places to eat or new things to do in our area.  I want to be a blog that people who want to try great food and support local businesses without driving to Dallas can read reviews on the many gems in our area.

So, there you have it!

I do not have it all together.  I am not a perfect person, nor do I have the perfect life.  I will, however, be perfectly honest, even when it is difficult.  My hope is that you leave feeling encouraged and that you love yourself more too.
