Recipe: Banana Berry Smoothie Bowl

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Growing up, I would beg to have breakfast for dinner or go to IHOP when I could pick out where we ate. I still love eggs, bacon, biscuits and pancakes every now and then, but my favorite “go-to” healthy breakfast is a smoothie bowl. There are so many variations and ways to spice it up, but here is a tried and true version I’m loving at the moment.

Base:
½ frozen banana
4-6 frozen strawberries
⅓ c frozen blueberries
1/3 c vanilla almond milk (you can adjust this higher or lower depending on your desired level of thickness)
1 scoop of vanilla protein (I love Tone It Up Perfect Fit or this one I get from Trader Joes)

Blend together until smooth. It should be thicker than a smootie (I use my Vitamix on “frozen dessert” instead of “smoothie”)

Pour into bowl and top with your favorite toppings.

I like:
1/2 Sliced banana
Granola
Unsweetened coconut flakes
Drizzle agave over everything

Other good toppings for the banana berry smoothie bowl:
Slivered almonds
Goji berries
Blueberries
Strawberries

You will see a ton of different smoothie bowl recipes on my blog in the future because I love them. The best thing about it is you can customize them to your own preferences and top with just about anything. It’s a healthy breakfast that fills you up and tastes like dessert.
