When I first heard about The Royale: Magnificent Burgers, a quirky new burger restaurant in Plano, I could not wait to visit. I saw the photos of their desserts and knew I had to plan a visit as quickly as possible. We finally got the opportunity to go out with our friends and try it out for a double date last week.
From the moment we stepped in to The Royale , we felt like we were in a Wes Anderson film. The unique decorations, creative food and menu all give The Royale a special touch. I looked at the menu on the website (which is really cool, so you should check it out here) before our visited and knew I wanted to order one of everything.
Our hostess and waiter were both friendly, and were happy to recommend things from the menu and answer questions for us.
Food and drinks
Since Happy Hour at The Royale is until 7, we decided to order a couple of drinks. All drinks are 1/2 off during Happy Hour, so it is an amazing deal. Two drinks for the price of one? Sign me up please!
Between the four of us, we tried several different cocktails and no one was disappointed. The flavors were as delicious and creative as their names.
We started our meal off with the fried pickle bliss. My only complaint was that we should have ordered two of them, because we ran out too quickly. We also ordered a flight of fries (which comes with various dipping sauces) and the sweet potato fry bundle to eat with our burgers.
All of the burgers looked wonderful, so selecting one to order was a difficult task. Fortunately, my friend and I ordered different burgers so that we could half them and try both.
The Royale burger, complete with tomato, lettuce, applewood-smoked bacon, and truffle aioli was juicy, fresh, and flavorful. We ordered ours with a wheat bun for no extra charge.
The farmhouse hullaballoo is topped with bacon, white cheddar, a fresh farm egg, and grain mustard aioli.
Finally, it was the moment I was waiting for after seeing photos…dessert. We ordered the hot fudge sundae song so that we could all share. It was worth the wait! Not only is this beast photogenic, but it tasted delicious.
Now, I can’t wait to go back and grab one of the amazing shakes I saw them bring out to the tables near us. If you can’t tell by now, I am a sucker for desserts.
I love the food and menu creativity. We were all happy with our choices and the quality of our meal. One of the best parts of the menu is that their beef is grass fed wagyu from nearby farms. The decor is cute, quirky, and definitely sets this place apart. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful.
The prices of the burgers and sides are a bit more expensive than other burger places. Overall the service was great, but we did have to wait over 15 minutes for a couple of our drinks and there were only 3 tables at the time.
If you are looking for a cheap burger place, this isn’t it. However, if you are looking for fun, creative delicious quality burgers, The Royale is it. The happy hour specials are great and worth checking out! I am excited to go back and try some other menu items (like the velvet candy wonder!). The fresh, local ingredients, creative recipes and dips makes this place a winner for sure!
