Mornings can be rough. Not only is it a busy time of day, but our mornings can determine the tone of the rest of our day. One little thing can cause a morning to go wrong, or it can make it great. I choose to plan ahead so that my mornings run smoothly and I can get on with my day.
Here are a few ways you can plan and simplify your morning routine.
Set two alarms
Start by setting an alarm for what time you need to be out of bed. Then, set an alarm for 10-15 minutes earlier. You can use this time to read an inspirational quote, meditate, pray, check social media or just lay in bed and rest for a few more minutes. When the second alarm goes off, be ready to get out of bed and start your day.
Before you go to bed, set out everything you will need for breakfast the next morning. Most mornings, I eat a smoothie, breakfast bowl, or egg scramble. I noticed my mornings are more productive when I don’t have to spend 5 minutes chopping fruits and veggies and getting ingredients together for my breakfast. Set out and portion anything you can ahead of time.
Lay out your clothes
How much time do you spend in the morning trying to pick out your outfit for the day? Now, think about how much time you could save if you laid everything (clothes, shoes, accessories) out the night before.
Have a “spot”
A “spot” is where you put the things you will need for the day, so you can grab it and walk out the door. For example, every night I make sure my keys, water bottle, vitamins, and anything else I might need are on the bar ready to go for the next morning.
