Mornings can be rough.  Not only is it a busy time of day, but our mornings can determine the tone of the rest of our day. One little thing can cause a morning to go wrong, or it can make it great.  I choose to plan ahead so that my mornings run smoothly and I can get on with my day.

Here are a few ways you can plan and simplify your morning routine.

Set two alarms

Start by setting an alarm for what time you need to be out of bed.  Then, set an alarm for 10-15 minutes earlier.  You can use this time to read an inspirational quote, meditate, pray, check social media or just lay in bed and rest for a few more minutes.  When the second alarm goes off, be ready to get out of bed and start your day.

Meal prep

Before you go to bed, set out everything you will need for breakfast the next morning.  Most mornings, I eat a smoothie, breakfast bowl, or egg scramble.  I noticed my mornings are more productive when I don’t have to spend 5 minutes chopping fruits and veggies and getting ingredients together for my breakfast.  Set out and portion anything you can ahead of time.

Lay out your clothes

How much time do you spend in the morning trying to pick out your outfit for the day?  Now, think about how much time you could save if you laid everything (clothes, shoes, accessories) out the night before.

Have a “spot”

love you more too north dallas blogger plano lifestyle blogger Morning RoutineA “spot” is where you put the things you will need for the day, so you can grab it and walk out the door.  For example, every night I make sure my keys, water bottle, vitamins, and anything else I might need are on the bar ready to go for the next morning.

Now that I have a spot, I never forget to take my vitamins*. Centrum Vitamints make it easy to get my essential vitamins in on the way out the door.  Vitamints come in different flavors, but the new raspberry mint flavor is my favorite. You can take them at any time, because you don’t need water and they taste delicious.  These are the perfect vitamins for people who have difficulties swallowing pills.  Colton prefers the Centrum MultiGummies because they make him feel like he is eating gummy bears with breakfast.  That’s one of the great things about vitamins now are all of the new, innovative ways to take them. love you more too north dallas blogger plano lifestyle blogger Morning Routine

Walgreens is my favorite place to grab vitamins because they have a partnership with  “Vitamin Angels” and make a donation with every vitamin purchase.   Not to mention, they have a huge variety of types and flavors.love you more too north dallas blogger plano lifestyle blogger Morning Routine
If you can get in the habit of trying these simple tips, you will be able to save time and simplify your morning routine.

I have a “spot” for my stuff, too! Including my vitamins… I take Geritol though, Centrum makes me nauseous unfortunately. I didn’t know they made gummies! I should try to see if those work out for me better 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

It’s funny how something so simple can make a difference. You should try them. He loves them. I took the gummies until the mints came along.

Brilliant! I already do 2 things that you’ve mentioned. I set like 4 alarms! And laying clothes the night before saves a lot time! 🙂

    • Jessica June 13, 2016 at 2:47 pm

My husband sets a ton too. I wake up on the first, but don’t get my butt out of bed til the second. haha.

Great advice! I’m a big believer in doing a lot of morning prep the evening before — it just makes the morning run so much more smoothly!

    • Jessica June 13, 2016 at 2:48 pm

Yes! So so true. Every little minute makes a difference in the chaos of mornings.

  • Karin Rambo June 13, 2016 at 4:32 pm

I always lay out my clothes the night before… it just makes it so much easier when you don’t have to spend that mental energy in the mornings!

    • Jessica June 13, 2016 at 9:19 pm

Yes! I completely agree. With everything going on in the mornings, thinking about what I am wearing is the last thing I want.

  • Sophia June 13, 2016 at 4:36 pm

I think preparing the night before is one of the most important things you can do. It saves a lot of time for you in the morning.

    • Jessica June 13, 2016 at 9:22 pm

Yes. You hit the nail on the head.

  • KP June 13, 2016 at 4:58 pm

These are great tips! I find the older I get the less of a mourning person I am.

    • Jessica June 13, 2016 at 9:21 pm

Thanks! Some days it is more difficult for me to get out of bed.

  • Lacey June 14, 2016 at 7:57 am

I love this post. Although I never have to set my alarm anymore because my 4 month old does that pretty well. 😂

    • Jessica June 14, 2016 at 8:26 am

Haha. I think that would do the trick for sure. 😉

  • Chelsea June 14, 2016 at 10:00 am

I really need to get better at meal prepping. I never do this, but I always say I should!!

    • Jessica June 19, 2016 at 9:20 am

It’s so great for saving time!

  • Katie June 14, 2016 at 10:10 am

Prep is a MUST for me when it comes to having an easy morning…coffee, workout clothes, day time clothes and lunch all ready so all I need to do is grab and go!

    • Jessica June 19, 2016 at 9:21 am

You got it, girl! That is exactly the way to do it! 🙂

  • Mai Lyn June 14, 2016 at 12:57 pm

Good tips! I also like packing a full bag with just about everything I need. I’m done being a bag lady, so I use my backpack for all my work stuff, clothes, keys, wallet, etc. And a lunch bag and then out the door! I also like keeping spare clothes and shoes in the car too 🙂

    • Jessica June 19, 2016 at 9:22 am

Great tips, Mai Lyn! I am a total bag lady.

  • Lindsay June 14, 2016 at 2:22 pm

Great, useful tips! I find when I get my lunch and breakfast together the night before, set my outfit for the day out and have everything ready by the door so that I’m not likely to forget anything useful and always sets me up for success.

Winging it is when I usual fail and I’m running around like a chicken with its head cut off, inevitably late.

    Have a great week hun!

    • Jessica June 19, 2016 at 9:26 am

Haha. Exactly! The chaos of those mornings typically mean it will be a chaotic day. Have a happy Sunday.

  • Dana Brown June 14, 2016 at 5:47 pm

I love your idea of two alarms to separate waking up from actually getting ready. I get sucked into my photo and it can be an hour or more before I get around to getting up.

    • Jessica June 19, 2016 at 9:27 am

Yes! That is why I started the double alarm thing. It reminds me to get my butt up. lol

  • Crystal // Dreams, etc. June 14, 2016 at 7:51 pm

I do a lot of prep the night before too. It’s the only way I can get out of the house on time in the morning. I like the “have a spot” tip, too. That would come in handy for certain things.

    • Jessica June 19, 2016 at 9:27 am

Yes. It is a great reminder for anything I need for the day. It gets too hot in Texas to leave some stuff in the car. 😉

  • Rebecca Hicks June 14, 2016 at 8:21 pm

Love this! Prepping is key for me to stay on time in the mornings. I also love laying out my workout clothes or clothes for the day the night before. Most of the time I stick with what I picked out!

    • Jessica June 19, 2016 at 9:30 am

Thanks, gorgeous!! I agree. It is so much easier to try on 100 things at night then in the morning before work. haha.

  • Bella B (xoxoBella) June 14, 2016 at 8:37 pm

I couldn’t agree more! I am all for meal prep and getting ready the night before. I love the Centrum gummies!

    • Jessica June 19, 2016 at 9:30 am

      So good, right? Thanks, girlie!

  • Courtney June 14, 2016 at 10:32 pm

Such great tips. I find a simple morning routine so important because it sets you up for your day! I love to wake up, feed my cats, make coffee and a yogurt and sit down and catch up on my social.

That sounds like a great morning routine! Thank you.

  • Lezley June 16, 2016 at 6:55 pm

I soooo needed this! Awesome idea to have a spot, that’s exactly what I need to help me in the mornings. The meal prep part is the hardest for me right now.

    • Jessica June 19, 2016 at 9:32 am

Thanks, girl. Once you get started on it, you will love how much time it saves you!
