Thursday, I turned 29. Since I have been excited about turning 30 since I was a little girl, I figured I would make a list of 30 things to do before turning 30. Some of the things are unlikely to be completed in a year, but why not try? Some of my daily goals are to drink more water, continue working out, eating healthy, and being more intentional with people around me, but these 30 things stand out (please excuse the superficiality of some of the things on the list). Without further ado…
30 things to do before turning 30
1. Learn something new
I want to learn how to sew so when we pop a button, beltloop or get a hole I can fix it.
2. Visit a new foreign country
Traveling is my favorite. This year we have an epic trip planned to my dream destination…Greece.
3. Run (at least) a half marathon
I started the year with wanting to run a marathon, but with recent events I think a half will be more likely.
4. Spend the weekend in the state capitol
Confession: I have never been to Austin. We have driven through it as a kid, but never stayed for a long period of time. Colton and I shot a wedding in Austin (non-city side) but were busy the entire weekend at the retreat. I want to enjoy the Austin life for a weekend.
5. Go hiking/camping
I haven’t camped in a long time and Colton has been asking to go for years. This is the year we should do it!
6. Girls’ trip
Last girls trip in my twenties… yes! This summer I am headed to Mexico with one of my besties and cannot wait!
7. Spend a day local wine tasting
I have had wine in California and Italy, but I haven’t tried a ton of Texas wines.
8. Make a dream come true
This is the year I will create something to sell and open a little store.
9. Break a record
It has been my dream for a long time to break a world record. This time I am not going to be as specific. Any ole’ record will do.
1o. Learn a new dance
Although I don’t have one in mind, I want to learn a dance… any dance.
It may be a good idea for me to finally have my wisdom teeth removed before 30.
12. Learn to bake/cook something
The chocolate avocado cake at Mexican Sugar is my favorite food on the planet. I want to learn to make it.
13. Accomplish a career goal
I would love to hit a few personal goals on this blog in the next 12 months.
Who doesn’t have this on their list?
15. Solo photoshoot
This is actually something that I have planned already. I hate taking pictures by myself, but now is the youngest I will ever be.
16. Break a bad habit
Nail biting. Must. Stop.
17. Meet someone you admire
A couple of weeks ago Lauren Conrad was in town doing a book signing and I am furious that I didn’t go. This year, I will jump on an opportunity to meet someone I admire.
18. Accomplish a physical goal
By 30, I want to be able to do 30 push ups without stopping or getting on my knees.
19. Complete a 30 day yoga/stretch challenge
I lack in flexibility and I think this would help. Not sure which one I want to do, but I will keep y’all updated.
20. Eat vegan for a week…
just to prove I can (and experiment with different foods)
21. Try a new ethnic restaurant
I have never had Indian food before. Colton sometimes suggests it, but I am a sucker for Mexican when we eat out. This year, I will say yes at least once.
This is the year I would like to start my herb garden.
23. Complete a list
One of my 2016 goals was to eat at every restaurant on this list. That is still a goal (and I am only 1 in. I have a lot of work to do).
24. Mission trip/work
Although I may not be able to take a mission trip in the next year, I would like to get involved with some mission work in my area.
25. Use up gift card balances
I have about 15 gift cards with under $10 on them. (Honestly some have less than $1). This year, I will use them all
26. Organize old files
We have a filing cabinet in our house that has not been organized in years (I still have paid bill notices from our apartment from six years ago)
My personal goal is 8 books. This may not seem like a lot, but between blogging, working, cooking, cleaning, working out, and more…reading is not a priority for me. Usually I read a ton during the summer, but slack off once school starts back up.
28. Make something
With all of the inspiration on Pinterest, I want to DIY several projects I have saved.
Along with the organization goal, I want to go through and donate/sell things I don’t use/need.
30. Write a thank you card to 30 people
Instead of texting/emailing, I want to be better about handwriting cards and notes to the people who mean the most to me.
