One of the requirements of being a MOVEMEANT ambassador is hosting local events to spread awareness about the foundation and raise money to pay for grants to help get girls all over moving. Julie, owner at The Barre Code Plano and I have been planning to host a class together. When I was selected as an ambassador for MOVEMEANT, Julie knew she wanted to get involved. Since my birthday is on April 28th, we thought it would be a fun way to bring together my family, friends, blog followers, Dallas Tone it Up girls, and Plano/North Dallas residents (or friends of any one of these). If you fall into that category:
You are invited to sweat with us at my 80s themed Barre and Bubbles Bash.
The when and where:
Saturday April 30, 2016 at 11:30 at The Barre Code Plano (located in Berkeley Square behind Blue Goose)
Every wonder what The Barre Code is? We will sweat together in a barre variety class in our 80s workout gear best (don’t worry if you don’t have anything, you can just wear regular workout clothes). After class, we will enjoy champagne, light snacks and our raffle drawing (hence: barre and bubbles bash)
Since the event is still a month away, I am in the process of collecting prizes. We have several small prizes (and several gift cards for local places) confirmed along with a couple of grand prizes. If you have a good or service and are interested in donating something for the Barre and Bubbles Bash raffle, please email email@example.com or use the contact page on the site.
How to sign up:
I can’t make the class, can I still participate in the raffle? Absolutely! Just use the link above and click “donate now” to make a contribution. You will be notified by email if you won and you must pick up your prize by May 8 in Plano.
Can I buy more than one raffle ticket? Of course! You can do so by adding additional donation amounts of $10 increments when you purchase your ticket online OR you can bring cash to the event and purchase additional tickets at the door. My goal is to sell 50+ tickets, so let’s make my birthday wish come true.
What is barre? Barre is a strength training class that gives you a full-body workout. You will push your different muscle groups to the point of fatigue and shake as you work through dynamic, full-range movements alongside targeted, and isometrics (from Barre Code website). Since this class is a variety, we will have cardio blasts to get your heart rate up and as Richard Simmons so gracefully says “sweat like a pony.”
What do I wear? Dress in your 80s best, or any workout clothes. For class, you will not wear shoes. Be sure you have on a pair of socks (Grip socks like these Anti-Slip Socks are best. You can buy a pair for $12.99 at the studio). Check out some of these products for inspiration:
Please join us for the Barre and Bubbles Bash. Don’t forget to contact me if you have a good or service you would like to donate.
